| I've been to Reno casinos several times. One of the best, or at least my favorite, is the Silver Legacy. It's atmosphere is great, features an old mining rig in the center of the casino, with miners and cars moving up the rig to the spectacular dome of sky and clouds, lighting bolts, etc. The casino is huge, but has an old west atmosphere..lots of table games, slot machines, and other attractions. Reno is a great little town, worth visiting and trying your luck there. Anyone else experienced the Silver Legacy or other casinos in Reno? |

Personally not, but from what you say it sounds great!
Although the offer above is well passed now, it's also pretty reasonable. Then again, thats not including the money you pour into slots or give to the guy in dark glasses with a stern face sat next to you |

You're right, exactly the point! All they want to do is get the people there with the lowest possible rates and then sit back and watch them spend, spend, and spend! But, it is such fun, IF you win! |

| I'm sure it is! Have you any idea what these hotels are like? I'm not expecting anything overly grand for such low rates but I'm interested to know how they compare to your average holiday resort hotel. |

| The Silver Legacy hotel appeals to me, with its Victorian decor and old world atmosphere. It is not a modern hotel, but the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The lobby is fascinating with silver collections from the old silver mines, bellboys dressed as footmen, etc., chandeliers, great service, etc. The casino walls in some areas are painted with murals, overhead lighting is not too bright, no fluorescent or glaring lights, etc. I haven't stayed at the Fitzgerald, but know some who have. It is small in comparison and not considered a resort style hotel by any means. However, some will say that the chances of winning in the casino are far better than at a bigger hotel. I have a friend who regularly stays at the Fitzgerald and regularly wins and would gamble nowhere else.. |

| If you get to Reno one day, I do recommend the Silver Legacy. How exciting you're going to Vegas..where are you staying? I'd love to be there or Reno, see some snow, have some fun, etc.! Reno is an old west type town, small in atmosphere, but you get a real feeling of nostalgia when you're there. I know you'd like it, not nearly as many people as Vegas, but friendly and the casino is very big. |

Very nice, I've heard songs reference to it so I'm assuming theres some age-old legacy associated with the place.
Sounds like you're in for a treat jhasper, when you going? |

There are several display cases in the lobby with silver pieces from the Comstock Lode and the hotel's entrance is on Virginia Street; Virginia City being the site of the Comstock silver mine way back when. The entire hotel and casino have an 18th century decor, quite fascinating, along with the mining rig display that I may have mentioned before, a vintage Cadillac, murals, etc..
And, the food is great... |

Reminds me of a hotel I stayed in in Paris - that was a rather bizarre place, they had old style decor, with a lot of quirky ornaments and pictures, these fantastic leather sofas in the waiting area, works of art on all the walls, looked great.
Although it was a little olde-world for my normal tastes, it had a certain character about it. |

| it's nice to go somewhere that relishes the historical past, to be fair.. the new casinos go up so quickly in Vegas that it's almost impossible to have any sort of history! |
