When you're playing 50 hours a week, of course any game that you feel you have an edge can be profitable. But is there a big difference between playing LIMIT or NLHE? Do you think it is easier to play limit rather then NLHE? I see huge pitfalls in playing lower limit as you have a lot more people 'gambling' rather then playing. Which can be both good and bad, of course those players chasing gutshots and runner runners is the way you get paid- but when they are actually hitting, not once or twice but what seems like EVERY SINGLE time it can really get frustrating.

In NLHE cash, a player can make one silly mistake and you have all the chips in front of them. Talk about huge pay days. But then there's the pitfall of them getting lucky for ALL OF YOUR CHIPS! I'd have to say that most professional players, the guys who are grinding it out day in and day out 40 hours a week... the guys that you DON'T see on TV... are playing limit. As that is what is spread around the country.

Most casinos you'll see far more LIMIT games going on then NLHE... Before the huge poker boom(please, correct me if I'm wrong here) I don't think the NLHE cash games in LV were that big, as they were mostly playing limit I'd say? And just in general I'd say LIMIT is a lot more popular, with ring games, at most casinos. Though, with the poker boom NLHE or 'the game that's on TV' is just going absolutely crazy.

So, the question here is: when playing to SERIOUSLY to supplement income, or playing for a living do you think it is easier/smarter/better to play limit or NLHE cash? Or it doesn't make a difference?

Linda, do you see a lot of pro's in LV playing that small 2-5$ NLHE game? What about you other dealers, what are the professional players playing? The ones that you know are really winning...

NLHE or limit?

I think it's easier to play no limit, albeit higher limit tables have less idiots and less bluffing in my experience. As you said, low limit has a lot of gamblers rather than players, making bets on small hands and getting lucky with the flop/turn/river, which can undo the hard work done by somebody who knows their percentages and starting hand values.

Limit takes a little more skill in my opinion, and although it's a nice safety net, I would go for no limit if I were to play that many hours per week and looking at turning a profit.
