I was just wondering whether anyone knows what the crime is like in Las Vegas. When I went there didn't seem to be a lot of Police however I can imagine in a town like that there is a lot of crime, mainly aimed at tourists. Have you ever experienced any crime there?

You're always going to get pickpockets in high density tourist areas, that is true of anywhere, and particularly where they are likely to be carrying cash and other valuables.

I don't think it's much worse than anywhere else, plus there is a lot of security in and around the casinos themselves. It's not particularly visible, but you'd be surprised at the actual level of security. Just because you can't see it doesn't necessarily mean it's not there Smile

You will probably find that you are the safest from crime in a Las Vegas casino than you are anywhere else in the world. The amount of security that they have in the casinos is unbelieveable, they have a lot of plain clothes security as well as uniformed security. Also these casinos have a huge amount of CCTV cameras so if you are robbed it is very likely the criminal will be caught on camera.

I'm surprised actually, I would have thought that tourists would be in danger from being robbed. Ususally tourists are vulnerable to crime due to the fact they are in unfamiliar surroundings therefore they can be very easily taken advantage of.

"Don't go to parties with metal detectors. Sure it feels safe inside; but what about all those [people] waitin outside with guns? They know you ain't got one..." Smile

I think the same thing applies to the high level of security at a casino.

Indeed, and whilst you are generally well watched around the larger casinos, there are still plenty of people looking for visitors with a wallet full of cash.

Pickpockets are normally the biggest problem, as stealing a wallet and disappearing is fairly safe from the thiefs point of view.
